These are a selection of artworks from the 1970s that cover my time at Reading University and the Royal College of Art.
The main theme of these works are the creation of objects that have synthetic secondary information contained in their surfaces. These are worked using a variety of materials from wax soaked paper, through computer roll carbon paper and steel sections. The idea was to generate assumptions as to the structural qualities of these objects from surface-retinal interpretations. Without being able to enter into the interior of the object (except through seeing) those assumptions would only be valid within the arena of speculation.
