In the region just above the visible surface of the Sun the temperature rapidly cools and it is this reddish tinge that we see during a total Solar eclipse. This cooling is brought about by the alignment of the Sun's electro-magnetic field but it does not mean there are no ionisation processes at work. These wagons contain imagery of the often violent environment of the Chromosphere and transformations of hydrogen in terms of its perceived wavelength.
This series of art works function as a commentary on the methodology of contemporary scientific model-making. In that instance we have seen the inadequacies of the process multiplied by the extensive use of computers. In these works, that potential for error is overcome by the use of the phenomenology of the model railway environment and associated mechanics.
Text on wagons: Hydrogen ionisation wavelengths: H6563Å - H4861Å - H4341Å
