Location : Studio G6, APT Studios,Deptford, London. As part of the London Festival of Architecture.
This manifestation of the installation 'The Inconstant Heavens' was constructed in the studio in 2012 as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2012. It consisted of an aerial model railway in 00 scale which emulated an orrery. However, instead of planets there are substituted concepts to do with the morality of the night sky. These take the form of printed text, from the astronomers and philosophers of the 17th and 18th century, floating in model tanker wagons and pulled around the trackway by a Class 20 diesel.
The featured wagons are :
'Newton : Six Primary Planets'
'Hume : The Modern System'
'Laplace : The Axis 03'
The route around the track was filmed using an on-board camera facing forwards and displayed on a screen to the side of the controller.
